Debra – Beck
Another song I didn’t hear until a looooong time after its release, but hopefully someone reading this hasn’t heard it so I feel less out of the loop. I’ve never been a huge Beck fan, but everything I’ve ever liked about him is on display in this track; solid slow jam grooves, some laugh out loud lyrics, and a sense that not taking your music too seriously can make your music seriously awesome. A well orchestrated song, with a tight, crisp sounding band that knows when to make it count and when to back off accompanies probably the best vocal of Beck’s career. This track is great because the more times you listen to it, the more you discover you like about it. Listen! (p.s the video I found of this is awful, but it’s the only studio version I could find so just hide the page if you hate it like I do)
